I make these whenever I host a baby shower and they're always a hit. I will usually add a tag onto the ribbons with a photo or saying to personalize them more but you'll see I didn't do that to the photos below since they are just for example.
First, here are the ingredients you'll need. I usually use the dark
chocolate covered Oreo Cookies instead of the white Chocolate but our store didn't have them. I made 2 sets of these for the blog, one using the ingredients below and a few using devils food cookies that you'll see in some of the photos. The only other item, not pictured below is Gulf Wax a household parafin wax. This helps the chocolate set up.
1) First you take the chocolate bar(s) and melt in a double boiler ( I used 1 bar for 8 cookies and had a lot left over). Add some of the parafin wax to the melting chocolate so the wax will set up and hold the candy. (Usually only takes a few shavings) When chocolate mixture is melted take a small amount and add to top of cookie, place a lifesaver candy on top of the chocolate and let it set up.
Here are the Devils Food Cookies with the lifesavers added as well...
After the tops are set. Cut the large jelly beans in half, I used pink. Take a small amount of chocolate and add to the center on the bottom of the cookies. Then, place half of the jelly bean (sticky side) down onto the chocolate. Let these set up as well. I place them on a cooling rack with the lifesavers between the metal, hanging down so the jelly beans can dry properly and not slide around.
After all the chocolate is set up and the jelly beans and lifesavers are nice and secure. You can add your favorite ribbon. This is where you can attach tags, photos etc. to the ribbons to make them more personalized. This is a treat your guests are sure to enjoy.
I love the ribbon! Where did you get it?

Is there a way you can put a ring pop in the middle?

Isn't the logic supposed to be that the kid could suck on it forever... A cookie would disappear in minutes.

Where would you get the gulf wax? I've never heard of it and when I looked it up at target or walmart all I kept getting was parafinne spa wax.
Posted by: Nykiah | August 14, 2009 at 01:39 PM
Gulf Wax is found by the canning supplies it is a parafin wax for canning and other cooking. One box will last a very long time. I have had mine for years. You use such a small amount for these cookies and I also use this product when making candies at Christmas, like peanut butter balls etc. It helps keep the chocolate in place.
